With choices from Urban Floor, Allwood and Appalachian, we’ve got you covered.
There are two types of prefinished flooring: Solid Hardwood and Engineered Hardwood. Both types arrive sanded, stained, and finished with a factory applied protective coating. These floors are easy to install, without the mess and odors associated with site finished floors and since they can be used immediately your life can get back to normal right away.
Solid prefinished flooring is made from planks that are each solid pieces of wood milled from a single piece of timber. Each plank is stained to provide a uniform color, followed by a protective coating to ensure a very durable finish. These floors are an excellent choice for active households with high traffic, and for homes with pets. Engineered flooring should not be confused with laminate flooring which is usually a photograph of wood sealed into a plastic backing.
Engineered floors are real wood veneers, 2mm to 6mm thick, layered onto 6-12 layers of plywood or white wood. These floors can be installed over almost anything – even concrete subfloors – making them a great choice for home renovation. They’re the perfect choice for high humidity areas such as basements, bathrooms and kitchens or for any area that has big climate swings. If sustainability is a priority, engineered wood can be a great choice since the veneer allows the harvested tree to go further.
